About this tool

What is the Disavow File Generator?

A disavow file generator turns a list of domains and URLs into the plain-text format Google's disavow tool accepts. Google says most sites never need to disavow; use it only for a manual action or a clear pattern of unnatural links.

It runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste or upload is sent to a server or stored.

Guide

How to read the result and act on it

The output is a plain text file you can upload in Google's disavow tool. Lines beginning with domain: disavow every link from that site, bare URLs disavow single pages, and lines starting with # are comments. Check that each entry is a link you have good evidence is manipulative, such as paid or spammy links you cannot get removed. Save the file as UTF-8 text with a .txt extension and keep a dated copy, because uploading replaces the previous file instead of adding to it. Upload it to the correct Search Console property and keep your outreach notes alongside it.

Common mistakes to avoid

The biggest mistake is disavowing links just because a third-party tool gave them a high toxicity score. Google says most sites do not need the tool, and it has long said it ignores many low-quality links on its own. Another error is uploading a file that lists only new domains, which overwrites your earlier entries. Do not mix up formats: a domain line needs the domain: prefix, and URL lines need the full address. Never disavow links you have not reviewed, and avoid using it as a substitute for removing real problems like a manual action's cause.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Yes, if you disavow good links. Be careful and document why each entry is included.
No. The file is built in your browser and nothing is sent or stored. Download or copy the output before you leave the page.
Skip it if you have no manual action and no clear pattern of paid or spammy links you built. Google generally ignores random low-quality links, so unnecessary disavowing can discard links that were helping.
