About this tool

What is the Domain Age Checker?

A domain age checker reads a domain's public registration record (RDAP) and reports the registration date, expiry date, registrar, status and name servers. It shows how long the domain has existed, not how long a website has been live.

This tool fetches the address you enter once, from our server, and reports what a crawler would receive. The URL is not stored; only a short-lived rate-limit counter is kept. Results show the page at the moment of the check and can differ from what a logged-in browser or a bot with different headers sees.

Guide

How to read the result and act on it

Read the registration date as the start of the domain's history and the expiry date as a reminder. A domain that expires within weeks needs renewing, and one with a recent registration date may be a new or recently dropped and re-registered name. When buying a domain, compare the age with the site history using the Wayback Machine, because a recent registration after a lapse can mean the old authority is gone. Note the status values: clientTransferProhibited is common and normal.

Common mistakes to avoid

Do not equate domain age with trust or ranking power, as an old parked domain has no advantage. Do not assume the registration date means the site existed since then. Avoid relying on a blank registrant field as a sign of anything, since privacy redaction is standard. And check the expiry date for your own domains, since a lapsed renewal can take a site offline.
