About this tool

What is the AI Search Readiness Checklist?

An AI search readiness checklist covers the practical basics for being found and used by AI search: crawl access, answer-first content, entity clarity, trust signals and measurement. It makes no promises about citations; no checklist can.

It runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste or upload is sent to a server or stored.

How to read the result and act on it

Work through the sections in order, because the earlier ones are prerequisites. If crawl access fails, nothing else matters, so confirm that search and AI bots can reach your key pages. Then check content: answers near the top of the page, clear headings and specific facts. Move on to entity clarity, which means the brand name, authors, about page and contact details are consistent across the site. Review trust signals such as sources, dates and reviews. Finish with measurement, and decide how you will track mentions. Use the unticked items as a prioritised list, and assign an owner and date to each one instead of leaving the report in a document.

Common mistakes to avoid

Do not read a full score as a promise of citations. The checklist covers sound practice, but AI products choose sources in ways that are not public. A common mistake is working on schema and llms.txt while the content itself does not answer questions directly. Another is blocking bots in robots.txt or a firewall and forgetting about it. People also tick entity items without checking that their name, address and descriptions match across profiles. Do not skip measurement; without a baseline you cannot tell whether changes helped. Avoid copying the same checklist results for different clients, since priorities depend on the site, market and competition.

Next steps

Use this with

  • AI Crawler Access Checker: Check whether your robots.txt allows or blocks Googlebot, GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and other AI crawlers.
  • Query Fan-Out Generator: Break a topic into the related sub-questions an AI search system may ask, and check your page coverage.
  • Answer Readiness Scorer: Score a page for structure that helps answers be found and lifted: headings, lists, facts and freshness.
