Guide

How to read the result and act on it

Add the output to the article page as JSON-LD. A good result includes a headline that matches the visible title, one or more images, datePublished, dateModified, an author with a name and ideally a profile URL, and a publisher with a logo. Use ISO 8601 dates. Check that author and dates also appear in the visible page, since the markup should reflect what readers see. Choose the type that fits: Article, NewsArticle or BlogPosting. Run the page through the Rich Results Test or Schema Markup Validator, and fix errors before deploying the template across other posts.

Common mistakes to avoid

Do not change dateModified for trivial edits such as fixing a comma, as this misrepresents freshness. Another mistake is using the site name as the author instead of the real writer, or listing an author who does not exist on the page. Avoid headlines that differ from the title shown to readers. Do not use Article markup on pages that are not articles, such as product pages. Also remember that images in the markup need to be crawlable and relevant, and that the schema alone will not fix thin content.

Linking the author to a real profile page strengthens entity signals.
No. The markup is built in your browser and nothing is stored or sent. Copy the output before closing the page.
Yes, but each post needs its own headline, dates and image. For many posts, set up your CMS or SEO plugin to fill these fields automatically from each post's data.
