About this tool

What is the YouTube Banner Checker?

A YouTube banner checker tests a channel art image against YouTube's guidance: 2560 by 1440 recommended, 2048 by 1152 minimum, 6 MB maximum, and a central safe area of about 1546 by 423 pixels that stays visible on every device.

It runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste or upload is sent to a server or stored.

Guide

How to read the result and act on it

Read the dimension and file size results first. A banner at 2560 by 1440 and under 6 MB is the recommended setup; 2048 by 1152 is the minimum. Then use the safe area guide: only the central region of about 1546 by 423 pixels is visible on every device, so your name, logo and key message must sit inside it. Anything outside may be cropped on mobile or shown only on desktop and TV screens. If an element touches the edge of the safe area, move it inward with some margin. Once the checks pass, upload the banner in YouTube Studio under Customisation and preview it on desktop, mobile and TV views before saving.

Common mistakes to avoid

The common error is placing text or a face near the edges of the large canvas because it looks fine in a design tool. On mobile only the centre shows, so the message is cut off. Another is using a low-resolution image stretched to fit, which looks soft on large displays. People also fill the safe area with so much text that nothing reads at small size. Do not put a website address or handle in the banner if it is also in your profile and description, since it competes for attention. Finally, avoid heavy compression to hit the file limit; export at a quality that keeps edges and text sharp.

No. It stays in your browser.
Yes, as long as the exported image meets the size and file limits. Check the exported file here, not the template, because export settings can change dimensions or weight. Export again from the original design file if the dimensions or weight are off.
It checks dimensions, file size and the safe area. For the exact on-screen look, use the preview in YouTube Studio, which shows desktop, mobile and TV views. Check all three views before you save, and adjust anything that is cut off.
